Although South Tirol is one of the smallest region in Italy it grows 20 different types of grapes over only 53000 hectars and produces about 350,000 hectoliters of wine a year! 60% of the wine production comes from white wines with some of the most awarded wines worldwide. Some local wines are the Gewuerztraminer, Lagrein, Schiava.
